ENGINE REMOVAL

now the rebuild is progressing its time to remove the engine.due to the very clever design of the ADR the easiest way to do this is to take away the complete rear subframe. once un bolted we proped the rear chassis on wood and removed the rear end!



now the rear end was out of the way,we began removing the fuel tank,coolant and oil lines,ecu and all engine wiring from the engine so we could simply unbolt it and lift it out! an hour later it was done and there was a big space for the new motor to drop into! the bmw motor is going up for sale and would make a great motor for a kit car etc with a built in reverse gear and flat 4 design. it sits nice and low in the chassis.
any way this is the motor out and the rear subframe mounted back on the car!

THE CLEAN UP BEGINS

I decided to have a bit of a clean up of certain items just to get things in order before i start with the engine transplant. i started with the wheels which looked pitted at first but a little cleaning soon showed it was just thick dust. only used soap and water and results were good. some decent cleaning in a few months should see even bigger improvements. heres the wheel before and after

then it was time to start on some of the other bits. cleaned the body sections off and removed the stickers, cleaned up the front and rear suspension components,and a squirt of WD40 on all rose joints and suspension rockers. the dampers are a race spec nitron with pushrods up front and a strange (for a sophisticated race car) live axle setup with rocker arms at the rear,with nitrons once again.all fully adjustable via rose joints for infinate setup.the split rim race wheels also look the part. heres the components a slight bit cleaner

ADR REBUILD

Im commencing the rebuild of an ADR race car and thought id keep everything up to date in a blog. the car was originally built 10 years ago for the 750mc sports 1000 series but this car remained dry stored and never actually raced. heres a couple of pics of how it looks the car has been stood a while and is therefore covered in a few layers of dust,but more important than that all key components are like new and un used. the car has a very good spec with wilwood brakes.pushrod operated nitron dampers, kevlar race seat,digital dash,titan steering rack, lightweight chassis (not had it weighed yet),center locking race wheels,full undertray,rear diffuser,rear wing,aeroquipped hoses,alloy foam filled race fuel tank etc etc the only weak component is the BMW bike engine in the rear which is an 8 valve K100 motor producing a whopping 90 BHP! so ive purchased a very clean k6 gsxr 1000 motor to go in its place.more info and pics will come when it arrives and is ready to be fitted. heres a few pics of it with bodywork removed. this is as it arrived and is covered in dust
